With Camp RZR coming up October 31st in Glamis, we needed to get out and break our brand new Polaris RZR XP 4 1000 in, so why not take some photos while we’re at it and share the machine’s first ride with you guys….
We picked a quiet little spot in Southern California to cruise around lightly to make sure everything broke in nicely. After we installed all the safety equipment supplied by Polaris we started the machine up, put it in gear and set out for day-one with the machine. We suggest you make your first trip small, and not so far from home. With this, if there are any problems you’re not going to bum your friends out and ruin any big trips.
The overall appearance of the Polaris RZR XP 4 has changed in the past years. Polaris seems to have made a more aggressive look with each new model release. The Polaris XP 4 1000 looks down right mean and fierce if you ask us, in fact, we think the 2015 Polaris RZR XP 1000 and four-seater XP 1000 is definitely one of the best-looking UTVs in today’s market.
Below are a few photos and captions of our proud new baby…
The stock cage on the 2015 RZR XP 4 has changed dramatically. Polaris lowered the cage height so fitting this unit into your toy hauler and garage isn’t a hassle anymore. Polaris was able to do this by lowering the rear passenger seats from the XP 4 900. Pure Polaris also has a line of great products to stack on the cage, from LED light bars, roofs, and Polaris makes wiring up any accessories a breeze.
Specifically built for the pinnacle of extreme performance, an all-new Polaris ProStar™ 1000 engine provides an industry-leading 107 horsepower with a true 999ccs of displacement, making it the most powerful and largest engine in its class. To get power like this and still run 87 octane is hard to find and much appreciated.
The doors Polaris upgraded to for the 1000 are an ease to open and close. They are also easy to adjust when upgrading products. There are four bolts that change the angle of the door to fit any application.
Suspension on the stock XP 4 1000 is awesome, with larger bodies, shafts, and larger reservoirs the shocks are able to keep cooler, last longer, reduce fade and perform flawlessly. Having the shock reservoirs away from the motor allows them to keep cooler, and having them higher on the vehicle to reach fresh air also allows the shocks to keep cooler.
Polaris held nothing back on tire selection, with Maxxis having the industry’s best selling tire the Maxxis Bighorn. These tires are a beast, they bite like no other, and they have a great wear life. The 29″ tires allow a lot of ground clearance, but the downside we found with the 29″ tires are they are only offered from Polaris which makes them hard to get, and a little pricey.
Polaris out did themselves with the factory seats. The new design offer incredible containment. Once you plant your tush in this seat, you aren’t going anywhere. The lower profile and higher sides makes these seats very safe. The cushions and foam are second to none. The nice vinyl makes them easy to clean as well.
When we were going down the hills the engine breaking kicks in and helps maintain a controllable decent.
The EPS, makes turning and navigating simple. There was no fighting the steering wheel trying to turn and there was no fear of the steering wheel snapping back either.
This vehicle isn’t lacking any power whatsoever. The Polaris XP 4 1000 is very quick, the fuel injection puts the power to the ground instantaneously. The new RZR XP 1000 is easy to drive over anything. If you haven’t tried one out for yourself, you really need to. You’re going to be impressed, no doubt.
After a day of break in, we had to do it, we had to see how the car would fly. The car handled our jumps perfectly, almost like landing on a pillow. Suspension seem to float over anything, and we haven’t even tinkered with it yet.
We’ll see everyone at Camp RZR this weekend! Come by and say hi, and by all means send us any pictures you took over the weekend and we will run them on our Camp RZR post event feature.
