Maxxis Sponsors 2014 Australian Open
- Updated: February 4, 2014
For the fourth straight year, Maxxis will sponsor the prestigious Australian Open, the largest sports event in the southern hemisphere and the first of the grand slam tournaments each year. The Australian Open is scheduled for January 13-26 in Melbourne.
In addition to being an Official Sponsor, Maxxis is the Official Tire of the Australian Open. Under the terms of the deal, Maxxis will have signage on Rod Laver Arena (Center Court) and is entitled to use the Australian Open logo in marketing materials and promotional activities.
Maxxis has gained extensive global exposure for its brand through sponsorship of the Open. The 2013 Australian Open was broadcast to more than 200 countries, and drew additional attention through social media and more than 8,800,000 views on the official Australian Open YouTube channel. The tournament also typically attracts a large spectator audience, with last year’s event welcoming over 684,000 fans.
In 2013, Novak Djokovic beat Andy Murray to win his third consecutive Australian Open crown and the fourth of his career. Victoria Azarenka became just the eighth woman in the history of the event to collected two Australian Open titles in a row. This year’s top seeds are Rafael Nadal and Serena Williams; winners in all categories will collect a total of AUD$33 million in prize money in 2014.
In order to capitalize on its already strong brand awareness in Australia, Maxxis has organized a high-impact marketing push, including a major national billboard campaign, for the lead-up and duration of this year’s Australian Open. This campaign carries the tag-line “Game, Set…..Maxxis,” which company officials expect will be remembered even after the event has concluded. A national consumer reward will also be made available to any consumer in Australia who purchases a set of four Maxxis tires during the Open. The reward, a high-quality polo top, will be available at no charge to these consumers.
Maxxis is delighted to sponsor this widely acclaimed and increasingly popular event and looks forward to seeing some of the world’s best tennis players compete. For further information on Maxxis tires, please visit http://www.maxxis.com/ or http://www.maxxis.co.uk/ or http: www.maxxistyres.com.au
