Ride Spot: Piute Trails, Beaver, Utah
- Updated: July 14, 2014
Summer is here! This warm weather of the just past 4th of July holiday offered the perfect opportunity for us to get up to the high country of the Fishlake National Forest for another UTV adventure!
We have visited Utah’s popular Piute Trail Network many times before but the trail network is so large we haven’t come close to riding the many trails that are available. With each visit we make, we set up camp in a different section then previously visited so that eventually we will see it all.
This time our chosen home base would be in Beaver, Utah. With direct ATV trail access from town, this, like many other small Utah towns, makes a perfect home base. There are several motels, three different RV parks, as well as many high country mountain cabins available for rent. For those more adventurous there is also beautiful primitive mountain access for both RVs and tent camping in the high meadows near Puffer Lake.
The trails on this section of the network, like others, are incredibly scenic and beautiful. Like all the Piute Trails we have run in the past these trails were also very well groomed and maintained. During our trip we enjoyed the typical high country fluctuation in weather. You can expect everything from warm sunshine to rain & even hail in mid summer so be sure and go prepared.
Fishing and wildlife viewing is also very plentiful in this area. Many trails have multiple creek and stream crossing but none that we encountered were too deep or fast.
If you would like to get out and enjoy the sites from your side-by-side this is a great place without a doubt. The scenery is incredibly beautiful and the terrain is fantastic. You can’t go wrong with a trip to the Piute Trails!
