Team 3 Seas Recreation’s RZR 800

3seasang13Like Bo Diddlley says, “you can’t judge a book by its cover.” Running an ordinary stock-looking 2010 Polaris RZR 800, Team 3 Seas Recreation probably has less money invested than any team chasing points in any of the UTV classes at the GNCC Series, yet they consistently finish ahead of most of the XC1 entries, most of which are larger XP 900s and Can-Am Mavericks with many expensive modifications.

The team found a beaten and broken 2010 Polaris RZR 800 for cheap and tweaked it into GNCC-worthy shape. In total, including the purchase of the machine, they have less than $7k invested. Compared to many of the $20k and up XP 900 and Maverick side-by-sides that they routinely pass, they’re proving that budget-minded people can indeed compete in the expensive UTV race scene.

3seas_rzr80013Currently leading the XC3 National Championship points with three class wins, driver Doug Fortner, who has a UTV Stock Class GNCC national championship to his credit, punishes the little 800 from start to finish, but the mighty Polaris seems to take all the abuse he dishes out.

If you see a little blue entry-class-looking RZR 800 bouncing off trees and passing others like they’re the ones down on horse power, there’s no doubt, it’s Doug Fortner charging his way from row 15, trying to win another GNCC overall.
